WHY you ask? iPads can get too hot for the material. Material fibers can get caught up in the components of the iPad. Only a hard case can protect the iPad
Ipads get hot? I was more concerned with the fibers causing static electricity. I haven't heard this to be the case with ipads but I have heard of it with MacBooks.
